The Current Situation And Develop Strategies Of Recreational Fishery In Changdao County

As the social progress and development of people’s life, we are having higherdemands for leisure parts of our lives than before. As an important part of leisure,recreational fishery is becoming more and more popular in recent years.In China, especially coastal areas, recreational fishery has been developed forabout twenty years. But compared to the development of recreational fishery inforeign countries, recreational fishery in China is still in the primary stage and needslots of improvement and unsolved problems. In recent years, there have been a largenumber of studies on the development of recreational fishery. But few of those studiesfocused on one particular activity of recreational fishery, or the collection of data andthe results of field researches on certain coastal areas. This research studies the currentsituation and problems of the particular activity of recreational fishery in ChangdaoCounty–Yujiale through field research and first-hand data collection, and hopes toapply the results into the practices of developing recreational fishery in other coastalareas to make a contribution to the research of recreational fishery in China.Changdao County is in Yantai City, Shandong province. The recreational fisheryin Changdao County started at1990s. At that time, many fishermen were facing theexhausted fishery resources and could not make ends meet, so many of them began tomake money by making tourists to sail in the sea, using their own fishing gear andboats. This activity has been very popular since beginning and became Yujiale todaygradually. By collecting literature, combining quality and quantity, field research andquestionnaire, this passage knows the development process of recreational fishery inChangdao County. At the same time, this passage makes a survey on the participants(including managers of Yujiale and consumers) of Yujiale in Changdao County andgains knowledge on the current problems of Yujiale in Changdao County from bothmacroscopic and microscopic scale.The results of this research shows that Yujiale in Changdao County has manykinds of industries that related to it, great influence on more than one area and highprofit, so it makes a great deal in the whole development of Changdao County. Thereare many great strengthens in developing Yujiale in Changdao County, such as outstanding geographical conditions, beautiful scenery, honest and hospitableChangdao citizens. Besides, the unique characters in a fishing life attract people wholive in metropolis very much and those people are the main consumer group of Yujialetour. On the other hand, Yujiale in Changdao also has many problems, such as oldinfrastructure, inadequate industry standards, monotonous activities and lack in datacollection of Yujiale. Under the new condition, without doubts, the development ofYujiale in Changdao County would face more challenges, in the meanwhile, moreopportunities. To explore the potential of Yujiale as much as possible, Yujialemanagers should work on the current weakness, seize opportunities brought by newgovernment policy such as the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone Project andBring Water from Mainland Project and learn lessons from competing with otherYujiale programs in other areas.Last, this passage analyzes gained first-hand data, studies the current situation ofYujiale in domestic and foreign countries and makes innovative suggestions on themanagement and development of Yujiale in Changdao County. The author holds anopinion that in the future development of Yujiale in Changdao County, thegovernment should strengthen the management on Yujiale by establishing the Yujialedatabase, update the content of Yujiale program by training managers of Yujiale sothat they would gain a systematic knowledge on operation of recreational fishery andattract more tourists to come by adding more recreational activities.
