Research On The Farmland Production Efifciency Of Shandong Province

Farmland is not only the fundamental resource and condition for human survival, and also isthe foundation of the agricultural development. But with the increase of population, the rapidadvance of industrialization and urbanization, the decline of cultivated population’s bearingcapacity year by year, and the degradation of cultivated land resource, making the contradictionbetween human and land more sharp, and hard to reverse in the short term. Therefore, theconversion from extensive economic growth mode to intensive economic growth mode, is the keyto have success of future cultivated land production. As a big province in agriculture, Shandongprovince eagerly respond to the national policy that ensuring the red line of1.8billion mu of arableland, work for maximally protecting the existing cultivated land and improving the productionefficiency. So this article studies optimization of Shandong province farmland productivity, aims tochange the way that elements by increased investment to increase production, realize theconnotative expanded reproduction, so as to play an exemplary role for other provinces.Based scale economics, technical change theory, and farmers’ produce behavioral theory, thisarticle systematically studies the production efficiency of Shandong province cultivated land.Firstly, using the vertical comparison and horizontal comparison analyses the status of thecultivated land and its production efficiency in Shandong province, and summarizes the mainfactors influencing the productivity of the cultivated land in Shandong province. Then, using themethod of DEA-Malmquist index measures the production efficiency of Shandong provincecultivated land, it shows higher level of Shandong province cultivated land’s production efficiency,but the increase of production efficiency almost depends on the continuous advancement oftechnology, instead of the promotion of technical efficiency; cultivated land’s production efficiencyhave significant difference, the production efficiency of Jiaodong peninsula and centre regionshows high level, the south comes second, the northwest is the bottom of the list, this consist withthe overall economic development tendency of Shandong. Finally, combining with the actualsituation of cultivated land production in Shandong province, indicates the policy suggestions thatshould depend on technology advancement and factor of production’s recombination to improve theproductivity of the cultivated land in Shandong province.In this paper, the main innovative exploration from two aspects: firstly, by means of exploringthe factors that influence the efficiency of cultivated land production in Shandong Province, to make up for the lack of empirical analysis of efficiency; secondly, using the correlation test toverify its validity and feasibility of the solid evidence, to avoid the deviation caused by subjectiveselection. Due to the limited level, this article only use DEA method to measure the productionefficiency, measuring the results may be overvalued technology progress effect, underestimate theerror of the technical efficiency change, future research can use the combination of various methodsto measure the same data, and then compares the influence of different measure and calculatemethods, thereby weakens the non-systematic error caused by the single method, it will be therevisable and improvable part in the future study and work.
