Talent, as the first resource in today’s society, is scarce resource wanted by various countries and regions. Such issues related to talents gathering cannot be ignored, especially in the period of industrial transition, more attentions should be paid on talents gathering research. Equipment manufacturing industry is pillar industry for the national economic and development and national defense building, but also vital for economic development. Highly developed equipment manufacturing industry has become a comprehensive strength and competitiveness of the flag of a country or region. As large-scale equipment manufacturing industry in Shanxi province, the path of development of modern, top equipment manufacturing industry, requires a lot of talent resources. Modern equipment manufacturing competitiveness mainly from competitive talent, especially high-level scientific and technological talents competition. Therefore, the establishment of Shanxi equipment manufacturing personnel gathered drive mechanism is particularly important.On the basis of the theoretical research about the cause of the talents gathering drivers, this article puts the pursuing to people’s own values and environmental factors together into the talent gathering driven research system. According to Levin’s theory, which considering the dynamic relationship among talent gathering, talent’s self-pursuit values and the environment, a mechanism for driving talent gathering has been established, including talent’s self-pursuit values and the environment. Based on Maslow’s hierarchy needs theory, Talent gathering propel drivers include three categories:income, development and social values; Based on level analysis theory, cause of talent gathering drivers are divided into three parts:the regional environment, industry and e features enterprise internal environment. Above all, the measuring standards of all drivers have been made. After collecting data by questionnaires, we make an empirical analysis on talent converging driving mechanism of equipment manufacturing industry in Shanxi Province. Thereby, we build a talent gathering system which includes propel driver, cause driver, enterprise internal environment. After making sure the data are reliable and valid by using SPSS statistical analysis software, we extract the main factors from a number of indicators. Then we make correlation analysis to find out the relationship among talent gathering, talent self-pursuit values and the environment.Empirical analysis shows that talent self-pursuit values and the environment are associated with talent gathering, in which talent’s income, regional economic environment, living environment have a significant linear correlation; followed by the talent policy environment, human resource management, the value of their own development, industry characteristics, the strength of enterprises, and cultural environment. The talent self-pursuit value is uncontrollable, but in order to achieve talent gathering in Shanxi equipment manufacturing, we can promote talent aggregation by taking advantage of the external environment. In this paper, an empirical analysis was made to find out the impact of talent self-pursuit value and talent environment on talent gathering. Hoping the research can provide a new idea for the study of the talent converging driving mechanism of equipment manufacturing industry in Shanxi Province.
