Long lead time is a widespread problem in hoisting machinery manufacturing industry inChina. It is very important to optimize lead time for improving competitiveness andcustomer’s satisfaction. Lean production, which eliminate all invalid labor and waste at thecore, is recognized as the most effective methods to shorten lead time and improveproductivity.Lead time of WT’s hoisting machinery production processes is optimized in this paperbased on the theory of lead production. First, domestic hoisting machinery industry conditionsand WT’s production status are introduced. By using VSM to outline WT’s current valuestream map for analyzing and evaluating the current status production and operation, the mainreason about the long lead time in the production process is found; the critical points toshorten the Lead time are ascertained, and the lead time optimization program is developed.Then, by using PERT to select the production process critical path, a more rational productionplan is developed based on it; by using equipment layout optimization to solve problemsabout long distance and transport between stations, lead time is shortened; by applyingMistake-proofing technology, lead time problem due to too many times welding processrework is solved. Finally the implementation effect of optimization programs is verifiedthrough contrast before and after being improved.Through the lead time optimization of WT’s hoisting machinery, some of the productionprocess of long-term problems existed in the industry are solved. It will be help with somereferences for companies in this industry. And the feasibility of special equipmentmanufacturing industry is also explored in the application of lean production theory.
