Research On Evaluation And Policy Of Enhancement For City Competitiveness Of Binhai New Area

With the acceleration of global economic integration, the status of city in bothnational and regional development has become more prominent. Henceforth,competition among cities in different countries is the hotspot, let alone in China whichis still a developing country. As the economic engine of China in the21stcentury,Binhai New Area attaches great importance to its city competitiveness.The thesis firstly introduces the historical background and practical significancein studying city competitiveness. And on the basis of that, it illustrates what citycompetitiveness is from the perspectives of concept, essence, function and therelevant studies on city competitiveness. And then, given the analyses of the mission,position as economic engine of Binhai New Area and its current development stage,the thesis puts forward the research focus city competitiveness of Binhai New Area.Understandings upon the related studies and previous city competitiveness modelshelp in configuring an ad hoc model of city competitiveness for Binhai New Area, andthat further lead to the formation of the evaluation indicator system and evaluationmethod for Binhai.The thesis carries out study upon the city competitiveness of Binhai by adoptingqualitative analysis. Based upon the evaluation indicator system, the thesis comparesthe main indicators of7sample cities with each other. The thesis also analyzes whatthe city of Binhai is at present and clarifies the reasons behind. In the study,6othercities are selected as targeted cities in comparison with Binhai New Area, for thepurpose of clarifying the strengths and weaknesses of Binhai, which will be crucial incomparing and ranking all the sample cities in a general manner.Finally, the thesis proposes the suggestions, given the results of the comparison,on enhancing city competitiveness of Binhai New Area.
