The resource type city is relying on the natural resources and the rise of the city, alongwith the exploitation of resources dwindling resources, increasingly serious environmentalpollution, domestic environment and interest resources relations of profound changes, so thatthe resource type city development challenges, while also facing exhausted resources anddecline dilemma. In order to avoid the resources exhaustion, become the only choice, whichis directly related to the long-term development of the overall city and regional and national.The pace of economic development in the very soon though, but since2013due to coalprices fell the impact, resulting in great difficulties in economic development. The mainreason is Shenmu too dependent on the local coal resources, the tree has not formed the largernon coal industry, transformation of the road is still long. Therefore, industry selection is thekey in the economic transformation and sustainable.This paper on the topic, based on the extensive literature combining theory and practiceboth at home and abroad to Shaanxi for example is discussed. Discusses the concept ofresource type city and characteristics of China’s resources type city, summarize the theoriesof the transformation of the resource type city. The Shenmu were analyzed, and theapplication of SWOT in detail introduces the Shenmu, and domestic and internationalresources type city transition success experience, so as to establish the selection of Shenmueconomic transformation and sustainable development strategy. And finally puts forwardsome policy suggestions on sustainable development in economic transition, which has acertain guiding and reference significance for sustainable development of resource-based citytransformation.
