As is well-know, with overall entering the era of knowledge-driven economy for our “global village”, the competencies and skills of human resources are promoted to a new higher position, to be the precondition of achieving the knowledge-driven economy. As a carrier of knowledge, knowledge workers are the most advantageous production weapon for survival, expansion and sustainable development of enterprise, and their competencies could directly effect on realization of enterprise strategic targets. Competency Model, a new base of modern human resources, is an outcome of combination among enterprise development strategy, culture, human resource development and management system. Through maximizing employee competence match and individual value fulfillment to employee productivity, it will help to acquire customer satisfaction and loyalty with superior product and service, also it promotes achievement of enterprise strategy targets to fulfill sustainable development of enterprise.Based on the concept and features of knowledge workers, domestic and international theoretical research of motivation and Competency Model, explore result of experts with behavioral event interview and the perspective of phased development strategy of Company M in Taicang, a detailed study of knowledge workers for Company M is forwarded and a Competency Model is further developed. Meanwhile, according to three main problems that currently exists in the motivation management of knowledge workers at Company M: monetary motivation, non-monetary motivation and performance evaluation, this paper proposes specific improvement solutions based on the Competency Model for these three motivation aspects and promote the knowledge workers management and verify the validity of the Competency Model for Company M.The management and improvement of Company M knowledge workers motivation based on the Competency Model in this paper are applied to the practice of human resource management of Company M. Meanwhile, it has high reference and practice value for knowledge workers Competency Model building in other auto parts manufacturers.
