Spatiotemporal pattern of regional tourism is refers to the space distribution state of regional tourism destination elements evolved with time, and it is the projection of tourist activities in a certain area geographical space. As an important form of tourism, the significance of inbound tourism is mainly reflected in earning regional foreign exchange income, boosting domestic demand, increasing employment, upgrading the industrial chain, strengthening the foreign economic and cultural exchanges. Hubei, as the most developed province in the middle of economic belt of China, its inbound tourism have already got the substantial development due to the advantageous geographical location, tourism resources endowment, and complete basic service facilities. So it is great importance to research the inbound tourism space-time pattern of Hubei province for clearing a long time scale characteristics of inbound tourism development and proposing development strategies of overseas tourism markets.This article had a large collection of basic data from China statistical yearbook, Hubei tourism statistics handbook, national tourism administration, etc. These data included the number and exchange earnings of inbound tourism in 17 cities of Hubei province, and the number of inbound tourism in 18 areas and its travelers, star travel scenic spot.In this article, inbound tourism pattern change and its markets evolution from long scales of spatiotemporal dimensions were studied, and the influence factors of evolution were analyzed by theories and methods of standard deviation, variation coefficient, primacy ratio, Herfindahl coefficient, geographic concentration index, preference scale model and market competition state model, etc. Through these studies, some corresponding suggestions and countermeasures were put forward to optimize inbound tourism space-time pattern in Hubei province.The results show that three stages can be divided into of the history of inbound tourism in Hubei province, which are fluctuations growth stage of start period, stable growth stage of adjustment period and rapid growth stage since the 21st century. The absolute difference and relative difference of inbound tourism of 17 cities have enlarged, and the growth rate value of absolute difference is greater than the relative differences. The primacy ratio of Wuhan is large and increase rapidly; The concentration index and Herfindahl coefficient of inbound tourism in Hubei province is higher, showing a higher agglomeration degree, and higher monopoly degree; From the point of development rate, there is large gaps between different cities and between Wuhan city circle and Western Hubei eco-cultural tourism circle. Tourists of inbound tourism in Hubei are mainly foreigners, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan tourists for a small proportion. According to preference scale model, we get the preference scale of 18 tourist markets in Hubei, and based on market competition state model we get the main target market competitiveness and the market distribution types. By the end of the article, the relevant optimization paths and strategies are put forward in order to promote the sustainable development of inbound tourism of Hubei province, according to the inbound tourism spatiotemporal structure of this province and its influencing factors.
