In modern society, the third industrial revolution became booming. Energy hasbecome the main factors that restrict the development of the national economy andpeople’s living standards. It is obviously that the big environment problem in oil, coaland natural gas. The contradiction between the traditional energy and the sustainabledevelopment model are more and more intense. Government realized the research ofdevelopment and utilization of new energy sources outside the traditional energy issignificant. Solar energy is a popular alternative energy sources for its renewable,inexhaustible, clean, no pollution. It’s a new source of energy.China has a total area of9.6million square kilometers and across a range oflatitudes. It is estimated that the solar radiations on land surface are about50x1018kJin China. This shows that the rich solar energy resources. Make full use of solarenergy resources can make the coordinated development of resources andenvironment. It definitely can solve the issue between the traditional energy andenvironment problem. Solar photovoltaic power can turn the solar energy into electricenergy, it can made traditional energy into new energy. PV industry is one of strategicemerging industries. The Chinese government emphasizes that the development of PVindustry is a part of China’s12th five-year plan.Jiangsu province grasps the opportunity of the big development rapidly in the international PV industry, and be the NO.1PV province in China. Facing the hugemarket prospects, make sure that the PV industry be better and faster is the main taskof Jiangsu. Technical innovation is the core of driving industry development. If PVindustry wants to keep the international competition, it has to be continuoustechnology innovation. It is important to figure out the situation of technologyinnovation output and choose the right technological strategy of Jiangsu PV industry.In the global society, the diffusion rate of technology is far more than the speed oftechnology. The intellectual property is major way to protect the output of innovation,specifically patent protection. Therefore, we are using the patent map to analysis thetechnology innovation output situation in Jiangsu PV industry from the perspective ofpatent.Therefore, from the angle of patent, this article analyzes the Jiangsu PVindustrial technology innovation output by patent map method. The result indicates,Jiangsu has taken the lead in the quantitative quota of PV industrial technology outputof the whole country; whereas by the objective of catching up with Taiwan andShanghai and then competing with American、Japan and Korean, the qualitative quotastill needs the further improvement; Since the emergence of many internationalrenowned PV enterprises and technical innovator, we also have an edge incomprehensive quota. In addition, this article which combines the patent analysismethod and traditional SWOT analysis method, analyzes the Internal strengths、weaknesses and external opportunities、threats in the technology level of JiangsuPV industry, provides the basis for the strategic choice of Jiangsu PV industrialtechnical development. Also the study shows Jiangsu PV industry should takes theWO technological developments strategy as the prior choice, meantime, in order tocarry out the holistic developing strategy, it also need to tie in with SO、ST and WTstrategy.
