Research On Effect Of Empowerment Climate To Trust In Construction Supply Chain Under EPC Mode

Faced with fierce competition in the construction market, the introduction of supplychain management in the construction industry draw attention of scholars and institutionbuilding gradually. Under the EPC mode, we can learn from this supply chain management,general contracting construction of the supply chain management system. Empowerment isone of the tissue to obtain an effective means of sustainable competitive advantage, which is amulti-level concept. More research on the individual level, but for levels of the organization,as empowerment climate, is relatively less, empowerment climate’ importance is steadilygrowing of improving organizational flexibility, promoting inter-organizational trust.Inter-organizational trust is one of the important premise of successful supply chain, andfundamental to construction market improvement and sustainable development, however,Inter-organizational trust in construction supply chain is not satisfactory. In this paper, thegeneral contractor and the subcontractor in construction supply chain as the research object, toexplore the factors of empowerment climate, as well as how the empowerment climate impacton inter-organizational trust in Construction Supply Chain.Firstly, the empowerment climate, inter-organizational trust in Construction SupplyChain and other related concepts are analyzed, based on the social exchange theory,Combined with the characteristics of construction supply chain, theoretical models andresearch hypotheses are proposed. Secondly, learning from sophisticated questionnaire,according to the actual construction situation, further verify the stability and applicability ofthe questionnaire. Then, in paper and electronic form, under the EPC model for seniormanagement to general contractors and subcontractors within the organization, a total of315questionnaires,219valid questionnaires were finally recovered. Finally, using SPSS17.0software, obtained empowerment climate under construction supply chain atmospherethrough factor analysis has three dimensions: Empowerment climate has a positive impact oninter-organizational trust; The dimensions of empowerment climate has a positive effect onrelational trust; information-sharing has a positive effect on calculation based trust, the impactof autonomy through boundaries, team accountability to calculation based trust was notsignificant.This paper highlights the research of empowerment among general contractors andsubcontractors in construction supply chain, expands the study of empowermentorganizational level, and improves the empirical research of empowerment climate to trust, itverifies the impact of various factors of empowerment climate to inter-organizational trust. Tosome extent, make up for the lack of empirical research between empowerment climate andtrust. It provides some useful reference for further establishing and improving trust theoreticalsystem in construction. In practice the process of the project, the general contractor caneffectively promote trust between the two sides though building the information sharing platform, negotiating with subcontractors to develop a common goal, expandingempowerment to subcontractors within a certain range, within a certain range to expandauthorization to subcontractors,, thereby improving overall operational efficiency of thesupply chain. Thereby enhancing the operational efficiency of the entire supply chain.
