China is the second largest producer of maize, the total outputof maize is208.12million tons in China in2012, only behind America. Large consumptionis also in China,185.75million tons of maize consumption in2012made China the secondplace in the world. In addition, maize occupies a larger proportion in Chinese food trade,from2003-2012in China this decade maize trade, Chinese maize began a downward trendfrom16.3893million tons in2003net exports, into a net import showed a trend of riseuntil2010, by2012the net imports is4.9507million tons. The internationalcompetitiveness of Chinese maize exports decline, Chinese maize imports is rising fasterand improving foreign dependency.First of all, on the research methods, this article by using the latest data, analysis theprevious years of the maize, import and export situation of maize production,consumption status in China; Secondly, this article based on the United NationsCommodity Trade database and China Grains network data, analysis import and exportdata of the world’s major producer of maize (the United States, Brazil, Argentina andChina) comparatively; thirdly, analysis the multi-angle of maize trade such as policies,supply, international competitiveness, more comprehensively analysis of present situationand countermeasures of Chinese maize trade, offer advice in all aspects. From this papercan be concluded that the maize production, consumption, trade and supply, storage, areinteractional relationship between policy and so on, so increasing maize yields, controllingmaize consumption, maintaining adequate domestic supply, improving storage capacityand putting out maize trade policies, is advantageous to the maize trade. Finally, combiningwith the problem of maize trade in China, the paper puts forward several countermeasuresfor corn trade, including improving the level of maize production technology, controllingvolume, begin a new line of maize industry development level, etc..
