The Research And Practice For Forest Products Traceability System Based On Process Information Management

The problem of forest product safety is getting increasing concerns, with the improving social awareness of product safety issues. Forest products traceability research is an integral part of forestry informatization, because it can effectively promote the protection of forest resources, and enhance the ecological benefits of forests. However, there are insufficient studies on the forest products traceability, due to the problems of distortion, excessive steps in circulation and the difficulties in forest products traceability, etc. It is practically important to study the construction of the forest product traceability system, in response to social concerns and serve the vast number of businesses and consumers.This study investigated the safety of forestry products, through the main line of forest resources utilization and circulation, taking the Longquan county in Zhejiang province as the study area, using the theory and methods of information system. First, the links and its established requirements in forest products process were analyzed, including the sources of the raw material, processing, circulation, consumption and so on. According to the analysis on multiple-step relationship, a set of unique identification codes for forest products were established, in order to record information in each step. The unique codes were used to excessively extract and manage the tracing information in the database, so as to understand the whole process from production, transportation and consumption. Second, a framework of forest products traceability system was designed, including forest products traceability procedure, the establishment of the traceability code, data acquisition of each step and its standard, as well as a platform of forest products traceability system, etc. Third, with the mechanisms of forest products traceability and the designed system framework, we practiced the forest products traceability, based on the currently running systems, including the forest ownership management information system, reforestration management system, logging management system in Longquan.
