In the era of knowledge economy, with the constant innovation of science and technology, many new products are invented, and then change the factor endowments of export commodities, improve the technical content of export commodities, thus further strengthening the international competitiveness. Technological innovation will give new impetus to export trade development. In this background, studying on the research about technological innovation and export trade will have great value in realistic significance.Based on the technology-related international trade theory, this paper makes an analysis of the affecting mechanism. Then this paper examines the relationship between the technological innovation and export trade based on the VAR model by using time series data from1991to2011from the views of the long-term equilibrium relationship and short-term dynamic relationship. Finally, this paper sets up the panel data model by using China’s31provinces or regions data from1998to2011and examines the change of other non-technical factors affecting the export when adding the technological innovation factor, further analyzing on the impact of technological innovation on export trade in different regions.According to the empirical results of the VAR model, the technological innovation and export trade have stable long-term equilibrium relationship, the short-term volatility of technological innovation has significant positive impacts on Chinese export trade. The stepwise regression result of the panel data model shows that technological innovation has positive effect on Chinese export trade and weakens the influence of other non-technical factors on the export trade. In addition, the result finds that the trade effect of technological innovation exists obvious regional differences.
