With the ending of the “golden decade”, the coal industryexperienced years of rapid development, has now entered a bottleneck, whendevelopment space and growth speed are in constant decline, and the marketbecomes more competitive. Employees’ mental health in coal companies is notoptimistic, and they generally have a low evaluation of their current state due tothe great pressure caused by life and work which results from the decreasing ofthe profit and the increasingly rising competition. The aims of EmployeeAssistance Program (EAP) are providing assistance for the psychological andbehavioral problems of the employees and their family members, so as toremove disturbance and relieve stress, which the employees work performancecan be improved, thus the operating cost can be reduced. If the employeeassistance program is applied in the coal industry, to a huge extent, it can solveemployees’ psychological problems, thereby improve their mental state andtheir job enthusiasm, furthermore, enhance the performance of the individualand the whole team and help the company through the economic winter.Based on a comprehensive understanding of the research situation on theservice model, service procedure and effectiveness of EAP both at home andabroad, the thesis study and analyzes the current situation of the humanresources in coal HS and its staff’s psychological problems, and finds out thatthe staff is in need of EAP; according to the reality, it decides to adopt the innermodel to carry out EAP. Based on humanistic management and stressmanagement, as well as the service procedure of EAP, thesis designs someparticular plans including designing digital magazines, carrying out training seminars, setting up the leaders telephone hot lines, and so on; due to thefeatures of the work and human resources in HS, select four representativedepartments according to the three segment----under-pit, assistant and ground,cut in from the perspective of individual and the company’s cultural atmosphereto carry out and evaluate the EAP plans; the thesis makes recommendations onthe follow-up steps of the company’s EAP.The key point of this study is the design of the EAP plans in HS. While itsdifficult part lies in the comparatively large difference between the differentdepartments in coal company, the difficulty in consisting the research time andcontent, in data collecting, and the constant adjustments of the plans in theprocess of designing and conducting, which are based on the instant feedbackand limited by knowledge and experience. Meanwhile, the original point of thisthesis is that it focuses on the coal company staff as the target group.The EAP plans designed by the thesis play a role in the improvement of thestaff’s work and life in HS. And it helps in the relief of the stress and theimprovement of the company’s performance. Currently, the authorities pay alittle attention to the psychological problems of the staff in coal companies, andthe solutions to the loss of company caused by stress in work are not enough,the EAP plans in HS can provide reference for other similar coal enterprises,and help to improve the psychological state of the staff, and improve themanagement of human resources.
