With the recovery of the global tourism industry and the expansion of tourism spending in the post-crisis era, tourism development has become strategically important for the national economic development. Especially during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake reconstruction, the State Department issued ‘the Master Plan of Wenchuan Earthquake Restoration and Reconstruction’, in which tourism industry has been identified as a pilot and competitive industry. And promoting the development of tourism industry has become an important means to deepen the industrial structure optimization and adjustment of the Western.As a transportation hub in Sichuan, Chendu City makes its great contribution to its people’s well-off and livelihood through tourism. Being the most important part of tourism, hotel industry is faced with great opportunities and challenges.Chendu Tianchenglou Hotel is one of 22 cultural theme hotels across the country. With the continuous expansion of group development and business scope, it has become a priority for the hotel to develop a strategic and sustainable development plan by figuring out how to expand its brand’s influence, how to expand the market, how to make this business bigger and stronger, how to integrate the external environment and internal capabilities of the enterprise so as to build its core competitiveness.Firstly, by making use of PEST and combining with China’s macroeconomic situation and the development of tourism and hotel industry, the essay shows the future development of China’s hotel industry, analyzes the competition pattern in Chengdu hotel industry and its future orientation, points out the development trend, opportunities and challenges for Chendu hotel industry, especially for the main hotels.Secondly, in order to provide support for Chendu Tianchenlou Hotel’s actual strategic decision, the essay analyzes its advantages of location, source and brand, presents the situation of its competitors, human resources, management and shows the hotel’s position in the competitive market.Thirdly, based on the analysis result of PEST and with the use of SWOT, the essay proposes a guiding ideology of strategic planning and development vision for Chendu Tianchenlou Hotel, and develops its strategic planning aim and related core values.Finally, according to Chendu Tianchenlou Hotel’s strategic objectives, the essay presents possible risks and difficulties during the implementation of the strategy, develops a number of safeguards to support the hotel business, and warns its risks so as to ensure successful implementation of the strategic planning.
