Poverty is a major obstacle of controlling economic development and affecting social stability. In the government work report of 2015, as the income of residents and economic benefits continue to improve, the per capita disposable income of the whole country grew by 8% in real terms and rural residents increase by 9.2%. The rural poverty population reduce 12.32 million. Chinese poverty alleviation work has made great achievements. But in the new normal situation, it still faces enormous pressure with a long way to go.Today we have built a moderately prosperous society. It is significant to study the statistic measure of multidimensional poverty and its influencing factors theoretically and practically. The paper carries out theoretical and empirical research in macro and micro aspects. In the micro aspect, we measure and decompose multidimensional poverty statistically and put forward a route choice of escaping poverty. In the macro aspect, we analysis the influence factors of multidimensional poverty of Chinese residents empirically, and study both short-term and long-term dynamic effects of poverty reduction originating from the financial development and economic growth. At last, the policy suggestions are presented. In the statistic measure of multidimensional poverty for China, the paper constructs multidimensional Poverty Index and its decomposition method, establishes statistical supervision and evaluation system of multidimensional poverty, and conducts related empirical research. The empirical results are interesting and have some important economic significance. First, with the development of the socio-economic, the overall level of poverty of Chinese residents has been reduced, and medical treatment, health, income and education contribute greater to the multidimensional Poverty Index. Second, multidimensional poverty shows imbalance. The multidimensional poverty of rural residents is more severe than that in urban. And the multi-dimensional poverty in western region is more severe than that in the central and eastern region. To discover the factors of influencing the residents’ multidimensional poverty in China, this paper uses econometric methods to study the long and short-term effects of the reduction of urban poverty and Granger causal relationship coming from the finance development of China from 1985 to 2013. The results show as follows:Between 1985 and 2013, there exists long-term equilibrium relationship among financial development, economic development and poverty reduction. From the short and long term, the economic and financial development can promote the reduction of poverty effectively. Therefore, government’s anti-poverty work should not only make new policy from the angle of macroeconomic and financial development, but also from the aspects of health care, education, health and other microscopic aspects. It is important to solve the problem of China’s poverty by speeding up the economic development, deeping financial development and reform, and increasing the financial investment to education, medical and health involving the livelihood of the people.
