Rural habitat consolidation in coal mining areas is the important means to solve the facing issues including the gradual resource depletion, restructuring of traditional industries, ecological restoration, etc. It is of great significance to alleviate landuse contradictory, realize cultivated land dynamic balance, promote agricultural productivity and improve the rural environment.By analysing research evolutions at home and abroad, taking four towns in northern Pei county(the Anguo town, Datun town, Longgu town and Yangtun town in northern Pei county) as study objects, and taking 107 villages as evaluation units, calculating potentiality of rural habitat consolidation based on method of percapital construction land, method of per household construction land, method of urban system planning.Dividing consolidation areas of rural habitat in non-subsidence area, puting forward four kinds of consolidation models based on SWOT. Following are the major achievements of the paper:1) Calculating potentiality of rural habitat consolidation. Dividing subsidence area and non- subsidence area by subsidence area accounts for greater than 30 percent of area administrative villages based on the subsidence degree. Subsidence area can be confirmed by whether its area exceeds 30 percent of administrative villages total area based on the subsidence degree.Calculating potentiality and increasing farmland rate of subsidence area; calculating separate potentiality of non- subsidence area based on method of percapital construction land, method of per household construction land, method of urban system planning, getting integrative potentiality by weighting, the the total potentiality of rural habitat consolidation of four towns in northern Pei county is 3641.97hm2 which is synthesized from above,the increasing farmland rate is 75.00%.2) Dividing consolidation areas of rural habitat in non-subsidence area. The increasing farmland rate is one of the system index, the paper used principal component analysis, getting scores of comprehensive evaluation of rural habitat consolidation and sequences, and subdivided into three distribution areas using cluster analysis,Ⅰconsolidation areas including 3 villages, Ⅱconsolidation areas including 24 villages, Ⅲconsolidation areas including 38 villages.3) Puting forward consolidation models of rural habitat. By the results of regionalization and the situation, the paper puts forward four kinds of consolidation models:type of overall relocation in coal mining area(including 42 villages), type of incorporated town(including 5 villages), type of progressive urbanization(including 17 villages), type of village center construction and the interior renovation in the meantime(including 34 villages).
