Multinational group A is the leader in automotive engine parts industry globally. She entered Chinese Market since 1980 s and has a successful market so far. But since the Chinese Market is more and more mature,if Group A would like to keep her leader position and achieve her strategy- "become the customer value managers with leading technology", it is necessary to change her business model from "R&D in US and made in China" to "China local R&D and local manufacturing" as soon as possible.The study of this paper is Chinese subsidiaries(AC Company) of Group A how to create and implement her local innovation and product development process. DFSS, KJ, VOC, QFD, Key Parameters Response, brainstorming theory are used to analyze process creating, process training, process implement etc. stages.In chapter 1, study background and significance are introduced briefly. In chapter 2, the history of innovation management, the basic theory of comprehensive innovation management, breakthrough innovation management and localization are introduced briefly. The theoretical framework of Design for Six Sigma(DFSS) and its common tools are introduced too. Their relationships are introduced also. In chapter 3, the current status of company innovation and R&D of AC Company and Group A’s US Company are introduced and compared. The issues are listed detailed. In chapter 4, how to use KJ etc. tools to create the local R&D process is analyzed and the new version process is introduced. This is the step of issue analyzing and solution offering. In Chapter 5, how to survey the implementation evaluations of new process and the final result are introduced. An application example is shown in chapter 5 too. This is the step for solution validation. In Chapter 6, main issues which were found during the new R&D process implementation are listed. Author’s personal suggestions for solving these issues are included too. Chapter 7 is the total summarization of this paper. Main point is that AC Company had a successful innovation improvement. Its lessons learned have value to other Company.
