Study On Comprehensive Evaluation And Spatial Pattern Of Urbanization Level Of County In Shanxi Province

Urbanization is an important way to build a well-off society in all-round way, but also the inevitable trend of human development, urbanization plays an irreplaceable role in stimulating economic growth, increasing employment and improving people’s living standard. Counties are the important units of the national economy and also the bases of the regional division of labor, the counties’urbanization is the dominant force in coordinating development and the reasonable transformation of urban and rural areas. In this paper, the research objects are 96 counties (cities) in Shanxi Province; the year 2000-2012 is the research time. I chose 3 first class indicators:population, economy, society and 13 secondary indicators, used the entropy coefficient method, clustering analysis, spatial autocorrelation method and gostatistics method to comprehensively measure the urbanization level of counties in Shanxi Province, and the evolution of spatial pattern of counties’urbanization level in Shanxi Province are also analyzed. The works are all based on the previous theoretical results.1. According to the principles of choosing urbanization indicators, this paper created a comprehensive system to measure the urbanization level, including population, economic and social three aspects. I have used the entropy coefficient method to calculate the comprehensive score of counties in Shanxi Province of year of 2000,2006 and 2012 respectively, proved that the urbanization level of counties in Shanxi Province are rising, more and more counties’level exceed the average level.2. By using the SPSS software, clustering analysis was carried out to the counties’urbanization level of Shanxi Province; the counties’ urbanization level can be divided into four categories:high level, middle and high level, middle level and low level. In 2000, most of the counties in Shanxi Province were concentrated in the middle level and low level; in 2012, the counties of high level incerased, the counties’urbanization level gap were reduced.3. Using the spatial autocorrelation analytical method to study the evolution of the spatial pattern of counties’ urbanization level in Shanxi Province. In year of 2000,2006 and 2012, the Moran’s I of counties’ urbanization level are positive in Shanxi Province, indicated that the characteristics of the comprehensive urbanization level is concentration significantly in the study area. Although counties’ urbanization level in Shanxi Province presents H-H gathered and L-L gathered characteristic, but L-L gathered areas are reducing, especially in Lvliang area.4. Using the geostatistical method to analyze the counties’ urbanization level of 2000,2006 and 2012 respectively, it is concluded that the 11 prefecture-level cities and the high level counties (cities) have obvious radiation effect to the surroundings, from year 2000 to 2012, the radiation effect expands unceasingly, so we should strengthen the construction of the city agglomerations such as "Fenyang, Pingyao, Xiaoyi, Jiexiu, Qinxian, Lingshi, Huozhou" "Lucheng, Tunliu, Changzhi, Gaoping, Yangcheng" and "Wenxi, Jishan, Xinjiang, Houma, Xiangfen", at the same time, increase investment to construct the city agglomerations such as Xinzhou and Datong, promotion the radiation effect of Taiyuan city circle to Xinzhou area.5. Through analyzing the influence factors of time and space in Shanxi Province, it is concluded that the traffic, resources and the construction of city clusters have great effects on counties’ urbanization level. And put forward the corresponding strategies to improve the level of counties’ urbanization in Shanxi Province. On the one hand, reform the household registration system in full operation, provide basic public services for migrant workers and peasants. On the other hand, take advantage of the coal resources in Shanxi Province and adjust the industrial structure, develop new industries and the tertiary industry, adjust measures to local conditions and develop local characteristic industries at the same time. At last, maintain employment, improve social security, increase the education investment, make sure that the social walfare to benefit the urban and rural areas, especially the farmers’insurance system of serious illness, strengthen the propaganda and implementation of environmental protection work.
