In the period of rapid urbanization, considering the basic national conditions of a large population and insufficient land resources, the expanding quantities and scales of cities, results in the prominent problem of urban land use, which is the background for intensive utilization of urban land. The urban land market has a monopoly because the State own urban land in China. In different regions, there is a significant difference in the development of land market. The land resource is short in China, intensive use of land is necessary because the development of urbanization is inseparable from land. Defining the connotation of urban land intensive use and the nature of urbanization, urban land intensive use has different forms in different stages of urbanization. We can analyze the correlation between the urban land intensive use and urbanization, it’s very important to promote the sound development of the city.Sichuan Province, as the economy and transportation hubs in southwestern China, has obvious dual economic structure and backward technology. Its quality of urbanization is lower than the eastern developed regions, there is big demand for the land. It’s need to promote regional economic development and intensively utilize land resources, which could achieve coordinative development in economy and society. Selected 18 prefecture-level cities in Sichuan Province as the research object, we can construct evaluation index systems in levels of intensive urban land use and urbanization to analyze different developing levels of cities. The regional development gap increases firstly and then decreases with time, which is rising trend in the level of urbanization. Chengdu has the highest value as central city, which will be smaller with spatial distance. Neijiang, Meishan, Bazhong and Ziyang have the low levels of urbanization. The levels of urban land intensive utilization are very different in different regions, central Sichuan is greater than south Sichuan, which is better than north Sichuan.Based coupling mechanism on levels of urban land intensive use and urbanization for 18 prefecture-level cites in Sichuan Province, we can construct coupling coordinated development model. The level of urban development be divided into four stages:low, antagonism, adaption, coordination according to the obtained coupling coordination degree. We can analyse spatial correlation, there occurs intensive high value areat taking Chengdu as central city. Compared with east Sichuan, north and south regions have higher levels of coupling coordination. According to the spatial correlation analysis of coupling coordination degree, Moran values are negative with the early strong negative correlation, which gradually evolves to random distribution, it indicates that the spatial difference diminishes. The local correlation analysis shows that the emergence of assembling region of low coupling coordinated development in northeastern Sichuan, taking Bazhong and Dazhou as central cities, it needs to be improved.
