Staff training is an internal driving force for the development of enterprises and is also the source of enterprise’s survival and advancement. Facing the increasingly strong and diversified rivals, small and medium-sized private enterprises are in urgent need of capable and highly qualified staff which is the key to enhance the competence for the enterprises. As an important cosmetics consumption city in northern part, Qingdao has seen a growing number of small and medium-sized private cosmetics enterprises.Combining the questionnaire method, interview method, comparison method and theory analysis method, this paper studies the staff training work of the small and medium private-owned cosmetics company in Qingdao City. First, the questionnaires are sent to gain a better understanding of the status quo of those companies and find out the existing problems. Next, we make a full analysis of the problems based on classic training theory. Finally, we put forward the training strategy of these enterprises. On the basis of the good understanding of the present status of the staff training, the paper using the gap analysis model suggests that the differences for diverse enterprises are embodied in strategic training plan, professional training, management skills training, employee mindset, education and sales ability. According to the above research, this paper puts forward the measures involving training plan making, competence-driven training program, establishment and implement of the inspection system of training results, guarantee of the training fee with an aim to improve the training of the employees of Qingdao small and medium-sized private cosmetics enterprises.
