Since China’s reform and opening up, rate of Chinese social differentiation accelerated dramatically, degree of differentiation greatly deepened, and differentiation has become a main background and distinct characteristics in today’s society. The key national forest areas are China’s important ecological function area and timber resources strategic reserve base, in the context of the social differentiation, the key national forest areas are bound to have a differentiation trend. And as for a series of policies targeting this area intensive introduction in recent years, differentiation trend of the key national forest areas is bound to appear some new situations and new problems. Worker households in key national forest areas are a kind of special groups, however, the existing researches mainly focus on the differentiation of farmer and peasant household, few studies focus on differentiation of worker households in key national forest areas. Therefore, study on differentiation status of worker households and its microcosmic determinants in key national forest areas is of great significance.This paper analyzes dual differentiation status of worker households with descriptive statistics on the basis of defining the concept of occupational differentiation and income differentiation of worker households in key national forest areas. Then, this paper analyzes the difference of different types of worker households in income, consumption, and production input, etc. Then, this paper further studies the micro factors that influencing occupational differentiation and income differentiation of worker households in key national forest areas. Research shows that number of family labor, the average schooling of labor force, social relations of the family, and the forest region where the family live in have a significant impact on occupational differentiation of worker households in key national forest areas; Family burden coefficient, whether managers family or not, family population, health status of labors, whether family members participate in vocational and technical training or not, social relations of the family, human expenditure, if there is a bank deposit or not and settlement difference have a significant impact on income differentiation of worker households in key national forest areas.According to the analysis of dual differentiation status of worker households in key national forest areas and its microcosmic determinants, this article puts forward several policy suggestions to deal with the dual differentiation trend of worker households in key national forest areas:guiding occupational differentiation of worker households actively; controlling income differentiation of worker households appropriately; strengthening the education and skills training; improving social capital of worker households; perfecting the pension security system and medical insurance system.
