| University campus landscape is a vital factor that affects the image of the campus and the life of teachers and students. Based on the theory of environmental psychology, using POE research system, adopting the methods of questionnaires, behavioral observation and interviews, this article chose Guangxi University campus landscape as research subject to investigate its landscape usage. By using Excel for statistical data analysis, it formed an usage evaluation, based on which it put forward the problems and solutions for Guangxi University campus landscape, in the hope of providing a reference for the landscape construction of university campus.The results showed that:(1) More women than men are the users of the green landscape in Guangxi University. Most of them are bachelors, among which freshmen account for the biggest percentage. Walking, view-watching and reading are the major activities for the users of the green landscape. The fresh air, beautiful water surface views and the abundant plant views are the main reasons for attractions, while factors like discipline background or season don't influence users in an obvious way.(2) The feedback from the users concerning the overall green landscape is fairly good, with 82 percent of them holding a positive attitude towards the beauty of the view,72 percent saying the views'types are rich and the atmosphere is pleasant, and 80 percent thinking the ecological effects of the university's landscape is good. However,46 percent of the users don't think the cultural landscape is rich.(3) Garden architecture and resting facilities are seriously lacking, with much room for improvement in terms of dimension design, numbers and shapes. Plus, there are other issues like not enough venues for paving and not rich terrain change.(4) In terms of water features,49 percent of the users express a positive view about the water quality and 43 percent are dissatisfied with the resting facilities nearby; 55 percent hold that there is wide application of aquatic plants and animals; 49 percent think the nearby places are highly secure while 43 percent think the types of water features are not rich.(5) In terms of plant landscape,87 percent of the users say that they are satisfied with the richness of the varieties of it and 74 percent think that the plants are growing healthily; 77 percent think that the plants on campus are dense and 58 percent are satisfied with the plants'shading effect. However, only 38 percent are satisfied with the plants'changes during different seasons.(6) Among the various functional areas in Guangxi University:the main entrance areas can meet the needs of users for landscape use; the main green areas, with the use of flowers, grass, landscape stones, tree-lined lawn and flower pavilions, won users' recognition; the sports areas have rationally-designed sites and provide rich sports types, and therefore meet the users'requirements; in other areas, such as the teaching area, research area, faculty and student housing area and dormitory area can basically meet the users'various usage and activities.(7) Guangxi University campus landscape have the following main features:?Green plants are mostly tropical and southern subtropical species, with green landscape exhibiting distinctive regional characteristics.?The water dotted campus presents a "water-and-land complementary" feature. ? There are abundant plant and animal species, with rich biological landscape diversity. ?There is rich historical heritage, with unique architectural landscape structure. ?There exist a wide range of public areas and a variety of public spots, boasting a sound infrastructure system. ?The landscape layout of the campus is reasonable, taking on an overall well-coordinated landscape.Finally, this paper pointed out the problems and proposed some suggestions regarding the construction of Guangxi University campus landscape in terms of cultural landscape, garden architecture and facilities, water features, plant landscape, paving landscape, terrain and so on. |
