Features Of Living-Concentrated Street And Space Design Study

A city does not only constitute a forest of cement buildings and busy streets. living-concentrated street is a major category of city street. It distributes traffic while being the main living place for citizens. The outlook design of living-concentrated street is closely related to the quality and vigor of city spaceThe widespread of urbanization, population and car growth created lots of city-specific issues:the disappearance of living-suitable city size and the loss of peace in city space; the crowded traffic makes cars lose their speed and efficiency and the cubic traffic road does not solve the issue of lack of smooth traffic; the facilities in cities are old when streets lack vitality. Citizens reduce their social activities and street safety needs improvement. Many of the city issues are related to the outlook of living-concentrated streets.As large-size streets bring more and more urban and social issues, the guiding concepts of the design of street outlook is generally transforming from'efficiency-first'to the'forgery of personalized space'. At the beginning of 2016,'State Council opinions about the further strengthening of urban planning, constructing management'was officially declared to announce that newly built living houses in the future will follow street mode instead of closed community mode, which provokes wide social concerns. Open street concept poses new requirements to the creation of city space and the improvement of street outlook quality.Urbanization in China is surging and construction eagerly needs to merge with localized theories for the purpose of guidance. How should the street outlook look like to be more personalized, more vigorous and livable when interacting with city space? What features should the outlook have? Are there good space design strategies to follow? These are questions to be answered. To answer the above questions, this thesis takes the living-concentrated street outlook as study objective and attempts to discuss the above question and answer them.This study comprises of six chapters:Chapter One Stating the research background, meanings, methods and organization structures. It defines relevant theories and conducts in-depth study of the features of outlook design of living-concentrated streets in China and the realistic meaning of outlook design strategies while understanding that living-concentrated street outlook quality needs improvement in China and streets lacks vitality.Chapter Two:Starting from domestic and international cases of living-concentrated street outlook to analyze related studies and design practice on global basis. It also explores the creation methods of personalized street space and livable community space from the perspective of street outlook and urban space evolution.Chapter Three:Via the study and analysis of benchmark outlook of living-concentrated streets in Dalian (Yuhua Street in Shahekou District, Beijing street-Dasheng Street in Xigang District, Bayi Street - Heyan Street in Xigang District), this thesis analyzes typical features of street outlook to invoke thinking about outlook and city space vitality.Chapter Four:Analyze and discuss factors affecting outlook of living-concentrated streets from outlook size, geometric form, outlook order and continuity, connecting point and creation of public space, facilities and planting design to study the features of street outlook. The result will be used as basis of research design strategies.Chapter Five:Analyze and summarize the outlook design of excellent street outlook design on global basis. Summarizing space design strategies as research conclusion from humanity perspective.
