Study On The Influence Of Living Street Physical Environment On Street Vitality

As China’s urbanization has gradually turned into a stage of transformation and development,people-oriented has become the core of urban development.Creating a livable living space for the citizens has become an important task in promoting urbanization.Although some theories and research results have existed in the field of building a livable urban space,most of the research objects are commercial spaces and plazas.The content of related research on living streets is still relatively lacking.Therefore,this paper selects 114 of the four blocks in the main urban area of Harbin for investigation,and uses principal component analysis and multiple linear regression to study the impact of street physical environment on street vitality.In this paper,the direct observation method is used to collect the data,and the characteristics of the vitality of the living street are presented through statistics and analysis.Combined with the existing research results,15 specific spatial factors of street materials were screened out,and they were summarized as street shading,street function,commercial environment quality,public activity space,and resting place by principal component analysis.The main components of the five street material space environment were then analyzed by multiple linear regression to analyze the impact of these five principal components on street vitality.The study found that the public activity space has a strong influence on various activities occurring on the street during all time periods throughout the day,and is the most basic factor for carrying street activities;the resting place has a strong influence on the long-term staying activities on the street during all time periods throughout the day,and is an important factor supporting the leisure activities of the surrounding residents;the street function has a strong influence on the short-term staying activities on the street in almost all time periods throughout the day,it is an important factor in carrying commercial activities on the street;the quality of the commercial environment will have a strong influence on various activities on the street in the afternoon,and it is a factor that promotes communication between residents and shopkeepers;street shading has little impact on street vibrancy due to the weather conditions in Harbin and the design of living streets.Finally,from the perspective of shaping the all-weather vitality of the street,the optimization strategy of the street physical environment,which is accommodate various activities,diverse street functions,commercial activities extending to the streets,and rationally designed street greening,is proposed.
