This thesis mainly studies a transmission line selection strategy for Ultra High Voltage Direct Current(UHVDC) based on a multi-attribute decision making model. In addition, a program based on this strategy is developed using C++ and Matlab to realize automatic selection.Firstly, the main factors involved in the decision making of UHV DC transmission line selection are analyzed, and a few key contributing factors are identified based on the past bidding experiences in the industries and are discussed in details. On one hand, the factors are classified into two groups with one group being used for pre-selection screening and the other group being used as major decision making criteria and discussed in details. The allowed ranges by the state regulation is also used as reference. On the other hand, detailed numerical procedures are given to obtain parameters that match the industrial standard.Secondly, this thesis introduces the basic concepts, procedures and common stategies used in multi-attribute decision making analysis. In particular, Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS) and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) are discussed in details. A transmission line selection model is proposed with AHP being used to get the weights of different attributes and TOPSIS being used for normalization and ranking.Thirdly, it combines with practical engineering experience, aiming to simulation calculation for the above methods. It firstly bases on the primary conditions to collect conductor schemes which contains more spices. Then it uses the limitations from detailed parameter calculations to eliminate the unqualified schemes. Finally it sorts the rest schemes and achieves scheme optimization according to TOPSIS.Fourthly, it illustrates a software based on the model which has been introduced. It is writed by using the environment of Visual Studio 2010 and the database of C++ and Matlab. Furthermore, this software is easy for users and convenient for gradually updates and modifications.
