Patterns And Renaissance Of Cultural Spaces During City Renaissance

Nowadays, a lot of cities are facing problems of economic transition,industrial structure readjustmen,and deterioration of ecological environment,which means cities need a comprehensive urban renaissance to promote sustainable developments. Cultural renaissance being an effective measure to achieve urban renaissance has been proved by foreign successful experiences. But, large-scale commercial exploitation which focus on physical environmental construction,is the main measure of urban renaissance in China. There is lacking of mechanism, approachment and urban space design methods of cultural renaissance in the urban renaissance process.Based on that, this paper points out that the object of cultural renaissance is the existing cultural resources and cultural spaces in the old city. urban renaissance and cultural spaces affect each other interactively. So this paper makes cultural spaces be the research object, and summarizes three development patterns of cultural spaces, which arecultural tourism industry led, creative industry led and public sapces led development, through the case analysis.In the past 30 years, urban design being a kind of dynamic, creating urban spaces process gradually become the mainstream of academic understanding. Urban design can not only construct the physical environment but also stabilize the traditional community, promote city cultural heritage and innovation, optimize the urban traffic environment, enhance ownership of community sense. In one word, it establish the relationship with urban social, economic, cultural and some other nonphysical factors,so,it become an important measure of urbanrenaissance.This paper is divided into seven chapters:Chapter one. In this part,the significance and purpose of study are established, and the conception of research subject is defined clearly. I also summarize the foreign and domestic researchs, and sorte out the research method and framework, to make a profound basis of study.Chapter two. Discusse the connotation, elements, formation mechanism, basic characteristics and four spatial hierarchical classification of the urban cultural space.Then based on the contradiction of construction status and the public demands of contemporary urban cultural space, the paper point out that the research object must turn to community-level cultural spaces.Chapter three.Summarize three patterns developments of cultural spaces based on British experiences,which are cultural tourism industry led, creative industry led and public spaces led development, through the case analysis. And also summarize the principles of them.Chapter four to six. Analyse cases from integration of cultural resources, involvement of cultural elements, organization of cultural activities, planning of complex functions and integration of urban structure. And summarize urban design strategies and methods from cases.Chapter seven. Summarizes the content of the study, puts forward the problems in the research, and puts forward the prospects for the follow-up study.
