With the rapid growth in air traffic, the capacity of China's major hub airport is saturated.In order to increase airport capacity, many airports have built two or more parallel runways.The parallel runways can be divided into: Remote Parallel Runways, mid-space parallel runways and Closed Space Parallel Runways.According to the different spacing. Due to the characteristics of large runway capacity and small floor space, mid-range parallel runways is most widely used. The capacity of parallel runway can be further improved through establishing a collision risk model of the parallel runway and narrowing the safety interval.Currently, the research on the route of collision risk model is relatively mature. Due to the change of high degree and the change of speed, the research on collision risk model of mid-range parallel runways is rare.Firstly, summarizes the status of the study of collision risk model and the significance of this research. Then introduce the basic concepts of parallel runways operating modes and safety interval briefly. At last, analysis the position errors of aircraft caused by the navigation errors and velocity errors. Determine the probability density function of the aircraft position error. And establish lateral directions, longitudinal and vertical collision risk model separately according to different directions. In addition, the nominal spacing between aircraft changing with time due to the changing of the speed of aircraft in the process of approach and departure and there is speed difference between the aircrafts. So the collision risk is changing with time.Considering the change of nominal interval, which makes the calculation more precise and provides a basis for narrowing the current safety standard interval.Many parallel runway which have been built is the staggered parallel runways. Which means the runway threshold staggered certain distance. Staggered spacing helps to establish vertical separation between the two runways corresponding glide slope in parallel instrument approach. And this affects the risk of collision. At last we can draw the conclusion that staggered parallel runway offset helps to reduce the risk of collision between aircrafts in the process of instrument approach according to the simulation conclusions.
