With the civil aviation developing and the air traffic need increasing, air capacity is urgently required to be enlarged. Reducing separation minima is one of the measures to alleviate this problem, in order to ensure safety while reducing the separation minima, it is important to evaluate safety of separation.Under the airport terminal area environment, safety separation evaluation for all operation modes of parallel runways was studied by Reich risk model method. Finally, the relevant models and computation methods was given in this work. The character of parallel runway operation modes was deeply analyzed. Across-track, along-track and vertical collision risk models were established in this paper. Under the given weather data, three parallel runways distribution and practical operation procedure of Pudong airport, safety separation standards in the process of airplane's take-off and landing was evaluated and analyzed by real data in different operation modes. The results of study indicate Pudong airport current operation safety separations meet the target level of safety of ICAO regulation. Finally, safety separation minima that met the target level of safety was investigated by the collision risk models, and the separation minima calculated was lower than the current separation minima under a given target level of safety, so we can say that Pudong airport can reduce current safety separation so as to enlarge airport capacity.
