The traditional design of light-weight steel structure is limited in taking the carrying capacity of the main framework into consideration. When the corrugated steel sheet was connected and supported through a reliable system, formed this cohesive whole whose building envelope is equipped with very considerable shear stiffness in the plane,it is what called the Stressed-Skin Effect.Taking the Stressed-Skin Effect into consideration, however,in light-steel structure design, can cut down the number of support component layout on the one hand, and reduce the weight of structure on the other. On the contrary, simply regarding the Stressed-Skin Effect as an emergency capacity can cause material and economic efficiency waste,or even building envelope damage appears before the main structural damage. The research object of this thesis is stressed skin diaphragm, which is composed by corrugated steel sheet, supporting component and connection part. The relationship between the sheet diaphragm unit and stressed skin diaphragm was expounded, and two kinds of stressed skin diaphragm classification were introduced. This thesis presents the Finite Element Analysis Theory within the components of sheet diaphragm unit, and conducts comparative analysis among the simulation results of finite element model, which was using spot welding model and physical model as connection parts and established two reasonable component finite element model respectively. This thesis focuses on the shear resisting performance of stressed skin diaphragm.Choosing ultimate shear strength and shear stiffness index as measurement factors for Stressed-Skin Effect, and drawing out stressed skin diaphragm load-deflection curve according to the analyzing results of finite element model. Then, the curve was compared with experimental results,so that to verify the validity and correctness of finite element analysis method. No seams, skin plate thickness, direction of shear, purlin spacing and other parameters were used as variables,to discuss different parameter impacts on the shear resisting performance of stressed skin diaphragm. For the convenience of the Stressed-Skin Effect design concept's practical engineering application, this thesis explored the simplified finite element analysis method of the stressed skin diaphragm. And briefed two sorts of simplified methods:equivalent anisotropic plate and daira, measuring by finite element analysis results. In the end,the simulation accuracy between two methods were compared, and applicability and reasonability of the simplified analysis was discussed.
