The Post Occupancy Evaluation On Urban New Square

With the continuous advancement of urbanization process in China,the scale of the city’s economy,population and land use is also constantly expanding,and the city has experienced a series of problems such as uneven distribution of public resources,traffic congestion,environmental pollution and so on.Therefore,in order to expand urban construction area,increase public service facilities and evacuate the population of the central city,planning a comprehensive new district has become the choice of cities.Based on the Western urban planning ideology that the square provides a place for rest and recreation for residents who are living in crowded and noisy cities,the new urban district uses the square as an important node of the structure,in order to organize the urban open-space system and connect the main landscape axis.However,there are many problems when the square of the new urban district is put into use,and it often happens that the seemingly flawless design schemes are not consistent with the actual needs of the users.By studying its root causes,it is not hard to find out that many previous planning and design projects have paid more attention to the design itself and ignored the user’s investigation and analysis,so that the problems could not be fed back in real time.And the same problem will still arise when the relevant design is again encountered.Therefore,the importance of the post-evaluation of urban new district plaza is prominent.The users’ psychological changes,the degree of realization of visions and the level of satisfaction are very important to consider the success of the design..This paper is based on the current use of the urban New District Square,from the perspective of urban planning and design,by using the post-evaluation(POE)as a technical support,and set up the post-use evaluation scheme of the city new area square.By using the literature data analysis and case analysis,POE survey,analytical methods and data compilation analysis methods,the author applies the post-evaluation method to the three different categories of research objects:zhengdong New District Convention and Exhibition Center Plaza in Zhengzhou,Erdos Kangbashi New District City Plaza,and Hangzhou Qianjiang New City Civic Plaza.By the satisfaction evaluation of the data obtained by the survey analysis and analyzing the square’s use,the author receives the results of quantification and qualitative analysis,then check the results with the weight assignment of POE factors.Finally,the optimal design is proposed for the current situation of each evaluation factor.
