This paper is a translation report whose original texts are selected from the world and Chongqing, an only major monthly magazine concerning foreign affairs in Chongqing. The “Belt and Road” initiative launches the major strategy of connectivity in Asia and Europe and opens a new chapter for Asia-Europe cooperation. Under such great global background, Chongqing, as a rising sharply and dynamic city, grasps this opportunity, conforms to the trend of times and speeds up its steps of growth to build up a better city. Therefore, increasing great efforts should be made to help it go out, which is imperative and significant by external publicity. The original in the report are mainly involved in politics and economics, consisting of five individual articles with the contents focusing on “Belt and Road” initiative and describing the sound urban-rural development under “B & R” and correspondingly great significance. Based on brief introduction to the translation project and the original text, and then taking the translation as an object of study, the report indicates that it has profound conception in content, strict language structure, and a large number of political and economic terms and expressions, words with Chinese characteristics and four-word structure are frequently used. Besides, it is common to see varied sentence structure, long difficult sentences, repeated and paralleled phrases and complex logical structures. In order to achieve the desired publicity effect, when translating such texts from Chinese to English, we should follow Peter Newmark's Correlative Translation Theory as guiding principle which pays attention to the original, takes reader's reaction as standards and combines semantic and communicative translation to reappear the original features and convey the original information by employing strategies of combining literal translation & free translation as well as some methods like diction and conversion of word class, division and combination, amplification and omission and reframing sentence structure and so on. In addition, the report illustrates to explain the translation methods above and makes conclusion of the experience and lessons from the project besides some problems to be solved, which will provide a favorable reference for the translation of similar articles from magazine in the coming future.
