From the macro point of view, the twenty-first century is a fast changing era of globalization and information technology. In this sense, the world is getting smaller, but communication is increasing enormously. Thus, translation plays an important role in the globalization process. From the micro point of view, as a means of communication between people, language is a great help for people to convey information. However, since each country has its own native language, so the effect of translation should not be overlooked.At the same time, science and technologies move forward with each passing day, the publication of popular science books is a vibrant business. Popular science books are to develop scientific knowledge, scientific method, which is absorbed in scientific ideas and spirits. They spread scientific knowledge to all aspects of society through a variety of methods. Follow Your Gut is this kind of popular science book. This book is to introduce microbes which are related to human beings and the relationship between health-related microbes and diseases. It is a book of universal knowledge of microbiology.This translation report is based on translation practice of Follow Your Gut. Firstly, it introduces the background of the translation, and a brief description of Follow Your Gut, and then the definition of popular science translation. After that, the translation project process has been highlighted, after which the challenges encountered in the process of translation is displayed in detail. The translation practice report summarizes the characteristics of challenges in popular science translation and the author hopes, the report can be a valuable reference for future popular science translation practices.
