This is a report on the translation of the third chapter of Three Rules: How Exceptional Companies Think. The authors are Michael E. Raynor and Mumtaz Ahmed of Deloitte. They both are experienced corporate managers. Michael E. Raynor is also the author of the bestselling and critically acclaimed The Strategy Paradox and The Innovator's Manifesto. The source text demonstrates what a good company should consider in order to gain competitive position and better revenue as well as building the right business model. The authors used a lot of data and jargons and terms to address these issues. The SL text offers detailed information on how the companies named in the book their business goals, which makes this translation project a well worthy attempt. This four-part translation project report starts with an introduction to the project background and significance. The second part is an account of the source text, including the content, structure and the stylistic features. The third part is a review on the translating process. It starts with an introduction to the translation theories adopted by the author to guide her practice, and then the problems encountered by the translator and her solutions. The fourth part is the conclusion of the paper.
