The Washback Empirical Study Of The New HSK For The Overseas Chinese Learners

In recent years,as China's “going out”policy to speed up its pace,the support of the national the establishment of overseas Confucius Institutes,actively promoting the teaching of Chinese overseas,vigorously develop and promote the implementation of the Chinese proficiency test,the annual number to participate in HSK shows a progressive tendency.Many experts and scholars did lots of studies on Chinese proficiency test questions and examination status,but the number of Washback study of the New Chinese Proficiency Test(New HSK)is less,especially when it was promoted in 2009 and implemented globally.The Washback study of the New HSK can help overseas Chinese learners establish correct exam concept,make full use of the New HSK positive Washback effect to improve their test scores,and increase the accumulation of Chinese knowledge,improve their Chinese communicative competence.This study conducted a questionnaire survey of 75 students from the Confucius Institute in Kenyatta University of Kenya who participated in the New HSK.The contents of the questionnaire involves four aspects:the students' basic information,learning Chinese basic situation,the preparations for the New HSK and the feedback for the New HSK.The main results of this study:to confirm the influence of new HSK for overseas Chinese learners did exist;the positive Washback Effect of the new HSK outweighs the negative Washback Effect for the overseas Chinese learners;the New HSK has influence for Chinese learners' learning attitude,learning strategies and learning methods.Finally,this study based on the results of the investigation put forward some suggestions that overseas Chinese learners should make full use of the new HSK positive Washback effect and to eliminate the negative Washback effect,learn to use the resources of the new HSK.
