| Science and technology news trans-editing is an important part in news translation work. For a better practice of trans-editing work, as well as to meet the reader‘s urgent need for frontier news of science and technology, this paper analyzes the excerpts selected in the trans-editing practice by means of Peter Newmark‘s translation theory. First of all, this report gives an introduction to the functions of text and translation methods proposed by Peter Newmark, and meanwhile the characteristics and requirements of science and technology news text have been concluded. And then under the guidance of Newmark‘s theory, the report further illustrates what translating methods and strategies has been employed during the translating practice process by making the analysis on the examples taken from the excerpts of the translation works. The conclusion of the report reveals that various translation methods should be used simultaneously and comprehensively in the trans-editing work of science and technology news. In addition, a summary report has been drawn so as to provide reference for future trans-editing work. |
