In recent decades, translation has experienced several waves of tremendous development, among which the development of interpreting in the last ten-odd years is exceptionally fast resulting in rising need of highly competent interpreters. The ever more frequent communication between China and the rest of the world is no doubt the driven force behind this phenomenon. Since interpreting is very challenging, excellent ability of interpreting is based not only on solid theoretical knowledge, but rich experience and practice of interpreting as well.This report is a practice on simultaneous interpreting of Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli's speech in the opening ceremony of Fortune Global Forum in 2013. There are mainly four parts in this report. The first part is devoted to the background of the report, reason of selecting this project, profile of the institution involved and details of the project. The second part is the preparation, including long-term preparations, recent preparations and spot preparation. The third part is case study, analyzing the difficulties the author had in the opening ceremony with the guidance of Skopos Theory of SI and providing solutions as well. The last part includes project summary.
