This is a translation report of the fifth chapter excerpted from World Order by Henry Kissinger, and it has a total of 11000 words. In this chapter,Kissinger mainly deals with the topic of multiplicity of Asian. He compares different concepts of balance of power between Asia and Europe, and shows us the different political and economic development models in different regions of Asia.At the end of this chapter,he gives us his understanding of the Asian regional order.Guided by the text analysis model proposed by Christiane Nord, the author of this thesis tried her best to finish this translation task.Nord's model is translation-oriented,and it offers the translator a framework of analysis,by means of which the translator can give a detailed analysis to different ranks of the original text. And based on the text analyses and the purposes of the translation, the translator can make a proper decision on his or her translation strategies and methods. After text analysis and in view that the function of the original text and that of the target text are both to convey information to the readers, the author of this thesis mainly adopted the instrumental strategy to solve problems in the process of translation and to convey the meaning and intention of the original as much as possible. As there are many new words and long sentences that make the original difficult to understand, the translator referred to many works and adopted many techniques such as conversion of word class, supplying words to manifest the meaning, transferring passive voice into active etc.to make the translation smooth, conformable to the readers' reading habit and easy to understand. The author of this report has realized the importance of translation theories for translation practice and the importance of having adequate knowledge about cultures.I know better that proper guidance of theory can make a better translation and only when a translator has clearly expressed the meaning of the original can she or he be regarded as a good translator. The author of this thesis has a long way to go in this respect.Through the translation practice, the author has come to know that a good translation comes from a constant reading of the original and a constant revising of the version.
