A Practice Report On Sentence Restructuring In English Translation Of Environmental Crisis And Cultural Reconstruction

Due to the great differences of sentence patterns between Chinese and English,the adjustments to the sentence structures are necessarily needed in the process of Chinese-English translation so as to conform to the habits of English expressions.However,the practice of Chinese-English translation indicates that local adjustments to the sentence structures fail to make the translation fit in many cases.In order to solve the problems and to make the translation idiomatic,substantial adjustments to the sentence structures and sentence restructuring of the source text are required.This practice report,based on the practice of English translation of sci-tech text,focusing on the problems and difficulties in translation in aspects such as word order,voice,and sentence statements,proposes feasible solutions,mainly involving sequence restructuring of sentence patterns,voice shift restructuring of sentence patterns,splitting restructuring of sentence patterns and combination restructuring of sentence patterns.Sequence restructuring of sentence patterns is mainly aimed at the problem of word order;voice shift restructuring of sentence patterns is mainly for the problem of voice;splitting restructuring and combination restructuring are mainly aimed at the problems of sentences.Each solution involves various ways with examples to explain and illustrate.The practice report indicates that the restructuring of sequence,voice shift,splitting and combination have a certain degree of effectiveness for the English translation of this type of Chinese texts.In this way,the translation conforms to the conventional expressions in target language better and the quality of the translation is also improved significantly.
