Taking the theory of adaption and selection in translation as the perspective, based on the three difficulties and problems of long sentences translation that found and summarized in the Chinese translation practice of column articles in Washington Post,i.e.,the differences of adaptive selection at linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension, this practice report proposes four adaptive and selective methods of long sentences restructuring,i.e.,adaptive selection at linguistics, cultural, communicative dimensions and three dimensional integrative adaptive selection, explores, through case analysis and summary, the effectiveness of Long Sentence Restructuring in Chinese Translation of English column articles with the guidance of adaption and selection.Adaptive selections at linguistic dimension and cultural dimension apply respectively the methods of adaptation conversion by addition, adaptation conversion by sentence shift and adaptation conversion by sentence segmentation;Adaptive selection at communicative dimension uses the methods of adaptation conversion by order exchanging, addition and sentence shift. On this basis,in line with the intimate relation and mutual interweaving of the linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions, the conversion of three dimensional integrative adaptive selection has been put forward along with the conversion by addition, order changing and sentence shift. The practice report and case analysis indicates that the adaptive selection theory has certain guiding significance and practical value for the long sentence restructuring in Chinese translation of the column articles in Washington Post.
