The thesis reports on the translation of Chapter One and Chapter Two of Mayo Clinic on Healthy Aging, which was published in June 2014 by Mayo Clinic, a famous American private and nonprofitable organization. The whole book is made up of about 90,000 words, making analysis on the composite factors such as comfort, nutrition, preventive nursing, medicare as well as social relations of the old. It also appeals to the public for a healthy lifestyle and a positive attitude to life. The translator chooses text typology founded by Katharina Reiss as the guide theory. According to the theory, different translation methods and strategies are determined by different texts.The thesis includes four parts in total. The first chapter is combined with the source of translation task, a brief introduction of the source text and the significance of the translation. The second chapter is mainly about the process of translation including theory preparation and the analysis of the source text. The third chapter mainly discusses the main points and difficulties of the translation and analyzes how to solve the problems according to the guide theory. The last chapter mainly discusses the effect of the text typology on the translation practice.
