The coming of the globalized economy makes the exchanges of information across countries more frequent, and English news is an important carrier of information exchange among counties. As we know that The Economist, a famous British magazine with a long history on news commentary around the world, with its language style of humor and flexibility, idea of wisdom and remarkable depth, focusing on sending readers maximum information in a minimum length,80% of its subscriptions are from overseas, and it has a wide range of fans in the world. Therefore, the translation work of The Economist not only improves personal translation ability, but also expends personal horizon.In the process of translation practice, the author is familiar with the types and characteristics of the texts through online resources and books. Then according to the characteristics of the text, the author finds out the idioms and idiomatic expressions, which match the text. Before translating, the author has sought lots of references. Firstly, the author analyzes the features of The Economist from the perspective of language, content, and viewpoint tendency and makes a summary of major bottlenecks (for example terminologies and background information, the complex sentence) in translating The Economist. Then, the author uses case analyses to solve these problems from the author's translation experience, that is, in the process of translation, aiming at the words, the phrases, the sentences, the author uses different methods, and makes detailed description and analysis of the case, which helps find the best translation strategies and achieve the purpose of improving the level and quality of translation.
