With the development of social economy and the world trade, people have known shipping industry and shipping has been recognized by businessmen. In recent years,people have realized the importance and urgency of ship safety because of the sinking.Through translating this material, the writer has known some vocabularies and the process of ship building and repairing. At the same time, the writer hopes readers can know more about the ship and the ship safety to pay more attention to the importance of ship safety and avoid the sinking as far as possible.The report is composed of translation general situation, description, case analysis and conclusion. Chapter 1 is the introduction and type of translated material. The report consists of Unit one to Unit five in Chapter 3 of English for Safety Management in Ship Building and Repairing, a brief introduction of the general structure of ships,the shipbuilding process and safety engineering. It belongs to scientific material.Chapter 2 includes the preparation, the translation process and the revision. Chapter 3is the case analysis, the core part of this report, based on the contents of five units. To analyze its stylistic feature, and then to discuss and study translation methods with practical examples under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory,including the translation methods of literal translation, syntactic linearity, reverse translation, splitting translation and passive sentences. In the final chapter, the writer analyzes and summarizes some problems in the process of translation and briefly talks about the feelings after translation.
