Research On The Application Of Strategies For The C-E Interpreting Of Press Conference From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Press conference can offer a good opportunity for China and other countries to communicate in the form of questions and answers. In the process of a press conference, good interpretation can provide a guarantee for the spread of the exact information. The press conference held by China's foreign minister Wangyi in 2015 has attracted a lot of attention and achieved its desired effect. Owing to its new corpora of interpretation and high research value, an exploration into it can be conducive to the successful interpretation of other press conferences.Skopos Theory is a translation theory developed by Vemeer from Germany in 1970s, which is the core of the Functional Translation Theory. This theory proposes that the selective factors in the process of translation depend on the final purpose of translation. In terms of Skopos Theory, interpretation is a kind of purposeful activity. The interpretation in the Press Conference, as one kind of interpretation activity of its unique characteristics, has its specific purpose, which is to promote China's image as well as China's communication with other countries. This thesis makes a study of the strategies for the C-E Interpreting of Press Conference and their application, taking the interpretation in the Press Conference held by foreign minister Wangyi as corpura, on the basis of Skopos Theory, aiming at providing references for interpreters in other press conferences.
