Translation Of Annual Report Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

The thesis makes an analysis of the translation of 2015 Report of the Transport Development in Central Cities(Chapter I)published by China Transport News.Transport annual report is an informative text,and it focuses on the transmission of information.The transport annual report fully depicts and systematically analyzes the transport development of central cities in China in 2015 with well-organized structure,informative content and elegant words,which embodies the characteristics of annual reports.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,the thesis is intended to make a summary of the translation strategies and methods of 2015 Report of the Transport Development in Central Cities(Chapter I).According to Skopos Theory,the translator must select translation methods based on the purpose of the target text in the translating process.The thesis firstly illustrates the linguistic features of transport annual report from the perspectives of words,sentences and discourse with examples.For example,there are plenty of terminology,category words,idiomatic expressions and neologisms,lots of sentences without subjects and compound sentences,as well as the use of reiteration as lexical cohesion and parallel structure in the source text.Then accordingly,under the guidance of Skopos Theory,various translation methods such as literal translation,free translation,amplification,transliteration and literal translation with annotation are adopted,and different translation strategies are used according to the syntactic and discourse features.It is believed in this thesis that under Skopos Theory,translators should adopt different translation methods in transport annual report translation,and putting emphasis on the acceptability of the target readers so as to make them accept accurate information under different language backgrounds and cultures.
