A Practice Report On English Translation Of Dalian Zhongshan District Chorography From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

With the rapid development of our national economy and improvement of international status,Chinese distinctive culture is gradually known by people all over the world.As the encyclopaedia of recording regional culture,the chorography not only reflects its inheritance and uniqueness but also shows its extensiveness and profoundness.So translators should undertake the arduous task of propagandizing regional culture in order to accelerate regional cultural dissemination and development.This translation practice takes Dalian Zhongshan District Chorography as translation object,which introduces Zhongshan District distinctive culture from natural conditions,tourism resource,financial situation and folk custom,so translating the book is helpful for promoting regional cultural prosperity and economic development.However,there are difficulties in the process of translating including the lack and redundancy of Chinese due to differences between Chinese and English,hence this report deals with those translating difficulties with amplification and omission strategies on the basis of linguistic adaptation theory;then it also introduces the characteristics of chorography.Although this report solves some problems such as the lack and redundance of Chinese in translating,there are still deficiencies and limitations.In a word,the author hopes to improve personal translation capability on chorography and contribute to other related fields.
