The Study On The Competency Model’s Construction And Verification Of English Major Students

This study mainly research the competency of english major students,Based on the literature collection,mainly by BEI,job analysis and expert evaluation method,combined with the semi open questionnaire for data collection.The research including 3 studies: The first study using questionnaires and BEI,obtained the competency of english major students.The second study constructs self-evaluation questionnaire of english major students’ competency and using the questionnaire to make predictions,constructs the competency model.The third study using formal questionnaire to verify the fitting degree of the english major students’ competency model.The results are as follows:(1)There are seven traits in competency model of english major students: initiative,confidence,self-control,interpersonal understanding,teamwork,language expression,professional knowledge and skills.And through confirmatory factor analysis,proved that the model has good structure and fitting degree.(2)Based on the competency model for “The self-evaluation questionnaire of english major students’ competency”,the research proves that the questionnaire has good reliability and validity.On the indexes of the total score,the average score and the highest score,making statistical analysis on the test data of excellent group and ordinary group.The result showes that english major students competency has good discrimination.(3)The results on the competency of english major students showed that the english major students’ competency is comparatively meet the basic level.Grade is the main factors which cause the differences on competency level.
