In recent years, more and more universities begin to pursue international development by receiving foreign students.Tianjin University,as the first modern university in China has been increasing the number of overseas students. To stipulate the rights and obligations of those overseas students, the translation work of The Regulations for Tianjin University Undergraduates(hereafter referred to as“Regulations”)has become a prior task.A fair and just student regulation of English version will help universities improve their publicity and enhance their international development. This translation practice is based on Regulations which involves life and study and other areas of undergraduates in Tianjin University.By combining Skopos Theory and its three major rules-skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule put forward by German functionalists and through lexical and syntactic analysis, this report makes general introductions to the translation methods of the Regulations. From lexical perspective, three methods are employed in the text, namely, using proper nouns, using modal verbs and using verb-turned nouns. From syntactic perspective, three methods are made use of to translate the sentences, namely, changing the active voice into passive, confirming the subject and the predicate, and changing simple sentences into complex ones.It is hoped that the translation methods introduced in the report could be used by other universities for reference in translating their student regulations.
