A Report On The Translation Of The Regulations Of Hanas LNG Co.,Ltd.under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

This report is based on a Chinese-English translation of the author of the report in Ningxia Hanas Liquefied Natural Gas(LNG)Co.Ltd.during her internship.The source texts of the translation task are "Safety Management Regulations on Work at Height" and"Fire Safety Management Regulations".This report mainly analyzes the author's translation of enterprise regulations under the guidance of Skopos theory.With the development of Chinese economy,many domestic companies begin to employ foreign employees.The translation of enterprise regulations performs a vital part in the management of foreign employees and sound development of the enterprise.Skopos theory points out the translation action is determined by the translation purpose.Therefore,in order to effectively transmit information to the target readers and make them understand the meaning in the target language,the author of the report,under the guidance of the Skopos rule and coherence rule,adopts appropriate translation methods of amplification,omitting,cutting and reversing in the process of translating terms,ambiguous sentences,zero-subject sentences,sentences with verbal expressions and long sentences.And when the interlingual coherence does not affect the target language readers' understanding,the original form of the source text is kept.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,the target language readers can accurately understand the regulations so that the purpose of managing foreign employees can be achieved.
