A Translation Project Report Of Global Prespercts:Divergences And Risks(Chapter 1)

This is a translation project report.The source text is the introduction part and chapter I of Global Economic Prospects: Divergences and Risks,a report published by the World Bank Group in 2016.Based on the statistics of the global economy in recent years,the first chapter analyzes the problems we face and points out prospects of the whole world's economy on the macro perspective,including the tendency of major economies and the existing divergences and prospects of global economy.The translator adopts the Skopos theory as the translation basis,because the source text belongs to a highly specialized informative text on economy.The Skopos theory attaches great importance to the readability of the target language,which is in line with the purpose of this project.In order to maintain the objective orientation and specialty,the translator has spared all the efforts to cover all the subtle information of the source text while maximizing the idiomaticity of target language during the preparation phase and translation process.This requires high bilingual translation ability and an intimate combination of the translation theory and techniques.Thus,with the Skopos theory as the guidance,the translator attempts to eliminate as much obstacles for non-native readers as possible by applying the translation techniques of conversion,domestication,inversion,division.After the project,the translator has been deeply aware of the magnificent guidance role of the Skopos theory throughout the translation and his insufficiency in economy knowledge and control over the language.
